How this tool works
The Unit Converter converts a value from one unit into another unit within the same measurement category.
For most categories, each unit is represented using a conversion factor relative to a common base unit.
The general formula is:
Base Value = Entered Value × Source Unit Factor
Converted Value = Base Value ÷ Target Unit Factor
For example, when converting kilometres to metres:
1 kilometre = 1,000 metres
Therefore:
Converted Value = Kilometres × 1,000
For categories such as length, area, mass, volume, time, data storage, pressure, energy, power, angles, and frequency, the calculator uses category-specific conversion factors.
Temperature conversion requires offset-based formulas rather than simple multiplication.
Celsius to Fahrenheit
°F = (°C × 9 ÷ 5) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius
°C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9
Celsius to Kelvin
K = °C + 273.15
Kelvin to Celsius
°C = K − 273.15
Fuel-economy conversions may use reciprocal calculations because fuel consumption and fuel efficiency express related measurements differently.
For example:
Litres per 100 kilometres = 235.214583 ÷ Miles per US Gallon
The converter calculates the result locally in the browser. Results are formatted using useful decimal precision while unnecessary trailing zeros are removed.
Important assumptions
The source and target units belong to the same supported measurement category.
Entered values use the meaning defined by the selected unit.
Standard internationally recognised conversion factors are used where applicable.
Metric prefixes follow powers of ten.
Area and volume conversions account for squared and cubed unit relationships.
Temperature conversions use the standard mathematical relationships between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin.
Kelvin values cannot be below absolute zero.
Data-storage conversions use the unit definitions displayed by the converter.
Fuel-economy conversions distinguish between US gallons and Imperial gallons where those units are available.
Results may be rounded for display while internal calculations retain greater numerical precision.
The converter does not automatically account for measurement uncertainty, instrument tolerance, environmental conditions, or local trade conventions.
Currency conversion is not included because exchange rates change continuously.
All conversions are performed locally within the user’s browser.
Limitations
The Unit Converter is provided for general informational, educational, and convenience purposes.
Results may differ slightly from another converter because of:

Volume-to-mass conversion is not performed because converting volume into mass requires the density of the relevant substance.
The Tool should not be used as the only source for engineering, scientific, medical, legal, regulatory, construction, aviation, navigation, or safety-critical decisions.

Not directly. Volume and mass measure different properties.nnA volume-to-mass conversion requires the density of the substance:nnMass = Volume × DensitynnBecause density varies by material and sometimes by temperature or pressure, a general unit conversion alone is insufficient.
5: Are entered values sent to PMNM?+
No. The Unit Converter is designed to perform calculations locally within the user’s browser.nnEntered values are not required to be transmitted to PMNM’s server for conversion. Any recent-conversion history provided by the module remains in the current browser and can be cleared by the user.
