Agriculture — common questions
Are the seed rates and fertiliser doses official recommendations?
The defaults are typical ranges for common Indian crops and are editable. Actual recommendations depend on your soil test, variety, sowing method, irrigation and season. Your state agriculture department or nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra is the authority — treat these tools as arithmetic, not agronomy.
Why does the fertiliser tool ask for nutrient quantities, not bags?
Because recommendations are issued in kilograms of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium per acre or hectare, while shops sell urea, DAP and MOP whose nutrient content differs. The tool converts one into the other, accounting for the nitrogen that DAP already supplies.
Does crop profit include family labour?
Only if you enter it. Leaving your own labour out makes a crop look more profitable than it is, so the tool provides a separate field for it and reports profit both with and without.
