Salary & Jobs tools

Understand your offer, your take-home and your exit. 12 free salary tools.

Indian salary structures hide a lot behind one number. A ₹12 LPA CTC is not ₹1 lakh a month: employer PF, gratuity provision, variable pay and income tax all sit between the offer letter and your bank account. These tools break that down and help with the decisions around it — comparing two offers, working out a notice period, estimating a full and final settlement, or checking whether a hike survives a move to a costlier city.

When these tools are useful

  • You have an offer letter and want to know the real monthly credit.
  • You are choosing between two jobs and the CTC numbers are not comparable.
  • You have resigned and need to work out your last working day, buyout cost or settlement.
  • You want to check whether a hike is actually a raise after tax and rent.

Salary & Jobs — common questions

Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC?

CTC includes costs the employer pays that never reach you as cash — employer PF contribution, gratuity provision, insurance premiums — plus variable pay that is conditional. Income tax and your own PF contribution are then deducted from what remains. A 25–35% gap between CTC and annual in-hand is normal in India.

Do these calculators use the latest income tax slabs?

Tax slabs are stored in a single versioned data file (src/data/tax-rules.js) with the financial year and effective dates recorded, rather than being hard-coded inside each calculator. The financial year in use is shown on every tax-affected result.

Can I use these results in a salary negotiation?

Use them to frame the conversation, not as an authority. The tools apply standard formulas to the numbers you enter; your actual payslip depends on your employer's salary structure, your investment declarations and your state's professional tax rules.
