Where do I find my electricity tariff?
On your bill, usually as "energy charge" per unit for each slab, plus fixed charges. Your discom publishes the full tariff order on its website. Enter your own numbers rather than relying on any default.
Why is my bill higher than the appliance calculator suggests?
Because a bill also carries fixed charges, meter rent, fuel surcharge adjustments, electricity duty and taxes, and because slab tariffs rise with total consumption — the marginal unit can cost far more than the average unit. The slab estimator models this; the single-appliance tool deliberately does not.
Is a star rating worth the higher price?
Often, but it depends on running hours and tariff. The AC and appliance tools let you compare two units over a chosen number of years so you can see the payback period instead of guessing.
