Freelancers tools
Rates, quotes, project profit and tax reserve. 4 free freelance tools.
Freelancers in India routinely price from what a salaried job paid, which ignores unpaid hours, software costs, holidays, sick days, payment gateway charges and the tax nobody deducted at source for them. These tools rebuild the rate from the bottom up: what you need to earn, how many hours are genuinely billable, and what has to be set aside before the money is yours.

- You are quoting a fixed-price project and want to protect the margin.
- A finished project felt unprofitable and you want to know why.
- You need to know how much of each invoice to keep aside for tax.
Freelancers — common questions
How many billable hours should I assume in a month?
Far fewer than the calendar suggests. After sales calls, admin, revisions, invoicing and unpaid learning, most solo freelancers bill 50–70% of their working hours. The hourly rate tool makes this a slider precisely because assuming 100% is what makes rates too low.
Does the tax reserve tool file my taxes?
No. It estimates a percentage of income to set aside, based on the slab structure and the presumptive-taxation option you select. It is a budgeting aid — your actual liability depends on deductions, advance tax dates, TDS already deducted and GST registration status. Confirm with a chartered accountant.
Should I include GST in my quoted rate?
If you are registered, GST is charged on top of your fee, not absorbed into it. The quoting tools keep your fee and GST separate so the client sees both and your margin is unaffected.
