Every image format is a trade-off. JPG is small but lossy and cannot store transparency. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, which makes it right for screenshots and logos and wrong for photographs. WebP is usually the smallest of the three and is now supported everywhere that matters. These converters move an image between the three formats in your browser, and tell you honestly what the conversion cost — including when the file comes out larger.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Each image is decoded by your browser, drawn to a canvas and re-encoded in the target format entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted, which matters when the image is an ID document or a signature.
Which format should I use?
JPG for photographs, PNG for screenshots, logos, diagrams and anything needing transparency, WebP when you want the smallest file and control the site it goes on. If a portal names a format, use that one and do not argue with it.
Why did my file get bigger after converting?
Almost always because you converted a photograph to PNG. PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly and cannot compete with JPG on photographs. That is not a fault in the conversion — it is what the format is for. The result tells you the real size change either way.
Does converting lose quality?
Converting to PNG does not, since PNG is lossless. Converting to JPG or WebP re-encodes the image and does lose a little, controlled by the quality setting. Converting the same image back and forth repeatedly degrades it each time, so keep your original.
Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?
Not here. Browsers other than Safari cannot decode HEIC, and doing it properly would mean shipping a large decoder to every visitor. On an iPhone you can set Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible" to get JPG straight from the camera.
