What the Document Scanner does
On a phone, tapping the upload area opens the file picker, which offers the camera as a source. Capture a page, and it appears in the list; repeat for each page, reorder if needed, and export.
The default here is high-contrast mode, which is what most scanner apps apply — the strongest, cleanest result for ordinary printed documents.
How to use this tool
- On your phone, tap the upload area and choose your camera.
- Photograph the first page square-on, filling the frame, in even light.
- Repeat for each page. They build up in the list in order.
- Reorder with the arrows if any page went in wrongly.
- Adjust the processing if needed, then export as PDF.

High-contrast pages compress very well, which is why a six-page scan comes out under a megabyte — usually within portal upload limits without further compression.
What your result means
Page order follows capture order, so photographing in sequence saves reordering afterwards.
High contrast gives the smallest files and the crispest text for ordinary printed documents.
If a page looks wrong, remove it from the list with the cross and capture it again.
Important considerations
- Rest the page on a plain, contrasting surface and hold the camera directly above it. A dark tabletop makes the page edges obvious.
- Even, indirect daylight beats a ceiling light directly overhead, which casts a shadow from the phone itself.
- Perspective correction is not available, so square-on capture matters.
- For a searchable PDF, run the exported file through OCR afterwards.
- For documents with coloured stamps or seals, switch to greyscale or colour mode.
Limitations of this tool
- Images are capped at 2400–3000 pixels on the longest side to keep memory use manageable on phones.
- Photographs are embedded as JPEG, so PNG transparency is flattened onto white.
- Perspective distortion cannot be corrected — photograph the page square-on for the best result.
- No automatic edge detection, cropping or perspective correction — those need computer vision beyond what this tool does.
- Live camera preview inside the page is not used; capture goes through the device's own camera app, which gives better focus control anyway.

Does it detect the page edges automatically?

Can I make the scan searchable?
Yes — export the PDF here, then run it through the OCR tool to extract the text.
