What the Merge PDF does
This tool copies the page objects from each source document into a new PDF in the order you set. Because the pages are copied rather than re-rendered, text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution, and the file size of the result is roughly the sum of its parts.
Order matters and is easy to get wrong, so the file list is explicit: each file is numbered, and the arrows move it up or down. The merged document follows that order from top to bottom.
How to use this tool

How merging works
A new empty PDF document is created.
For each file, in the order shown:
1. Parse the PDF structure.
2. Copy every page object into the new document.
3. Append the copied pages in sequence.
Pages are copied, not re-rendered — text stays selectable and
images keep their original resolution.
Total pages out = sum of the pages in every input file.

Portals that accept a single attachment are the usual reason for this. Put the form first — reviewers expect to see it before the annexures.
What your result means
The page count shown after merging should equal the total of your input files. If it does not, one of the files had fewer pages than you expected — worth checking before you submit.
File size is roughly the sum of the inputs. If the result is too large for an upload limit, run it through the compress tool rather than removing pages.
Order is not recoverable after merging without splitting again, so check the numbered list before pressing the button.
Important considerations
- Page size is preserved per page, so merging A4 and Letter documents produces a PDF with mixed page sizes. That is usually fine on screen but can be awkward when printing — use the page size converter first if it matters.
- Bookmarks, form fields and digital signatures from the source documents are not carried across. A signed PDF loses its signature validity when merged, which is expected behaviour for any merge tool.
- If several files have the same name, check the list carefully — the order is what matters, not the filename.
- For very large merges, add files in batches and merge the results, rather than loading thirty documents at once.
- The merged file is generated fresh each time. Re-merging with a different order is instant — just reorder and press the button again.
Limitations of this tool
- Everything runs in your device's memory, so very large documents — several hundred high-resolution scanned pages — can be slow or exhaust available memory. The tool reports a clear error rather than crashing silently.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password in a PDF reader first and save an unprotected copy.
- Damaged or partially downloaded PDFs cannot be parsed. If a file fails, try re-downloading it from the original source.
- Bookmarks, outlines, annotations that depend on document structure, and interactive form fields are not preserved from the source files.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?
No fixed limit, but everything happens in your device's memory. Ten to twenty ordinary documents merge comfortably. If you are combining dozens of large scanned files, merge them in batches and then merge the results.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The merge happens entirely in your browser using a library served from this site. Open your browser's network tab while merging and you will see no upload request.
Will merging reduce the quality of my PDF?
